Anniversary Post - Pic Heavy

Hi guys,

Well, today is my first wedding anniversary :D so this is definitely a scheduled post ;)
My gorgeous husband, amongst other pressies, bought me W7 Famous Five and Color Club Holiday Collection 2011 Beyond the Mistletoe.

I will be swatching them in this post but first, my 3 year old wanted her own polish too so my hubby bought her this lovely little collection. She wanted me to put her nails 'on the computer like mummy' so, for today, Grace is showing her mani :) This is a little collection called Once Upon A Princess from TK Max. These don't have names but they are all pretty pastel shades. Below are some pictures of her own mani. She asked me to paint her nails but wouldn't sit still for long (those with 3 1/2 year olds will know what I mean!) so plenty of polish on skin :D

White, lilac, pink, coral, lemon, green and sky blue.

Look at that for a hand pose! She's a natural :D
She also painted my nails, bless her.

Here are my lovely pressies: W7 Famous Five. These are 5 of the Planets Collection.
L-R in box: Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune.

Thumb to Pinkie: Venus, Neptune, Saturn, Mercury and Jupiter.

These are gorgeous! The thumb, Venus, has the most stunning duochrome effect (purple to blue) on the nail. In the bottle it has about 5 different colours including pink, orange and gold which don't seem to transfer to the nail.

Neptune (index) is a stunning teal with slight glitter shimmer/fleck through it. Gorgeous!

Saturn (middle) is a beautiful metallic greeny-gold.

Mercury (ring) has pink/orange duochrome glitters in a rose base but in the bottle has a green flash which unfortunately didn't show on the nail.

Jupiter (pinkie) has blue and pink flecks in a dark base. Hopefully the photos pick the detail up enough for you to see.

And Color Club - Beyond the Mistletoe. GLITTER GALORE!!!

Jingle Jangle, Beyond the Mistletoe, Holiday Splendor

Candy Cane, Gingerbread, Sugarplum Fairy
These are all 2 coats. 3 coats would make these completely opaque. These are all holos but Candy Cane (Index) has very little holo. Still very pretty.

Thumb-pinkie: Gingerbread, Candy Cane, Sugarplum Fairy, Jingle Jangle and Beyond the Mistletoe.
This next lot of pics are of Holiday Splendor but I think they have changed the formula, color or holo effect as it's completely different to any pic I've seen of it elsewhere. Every photo (on google images) I've seen of this polish looks more turquoise with holo but this it TOTALLY emerald. NO holo glitter, No silver glitter, NO teal/turquoise/aqua colour. Just Emerald. Think shamrock green. Any coloured glitters you can see in the next pic are remnants from the other glitters I had on before I swatched this one, you know how hard it is to remove glitter!

Bokeh Holiday Splendor

Holiday Splendor

Here are some comparison shots.

This is what I see on my monitor when I google Holiday Splendor but you can see what it's like on my nails too. I thought at first it was my monitor showing the wrong colour but if it was then MY swatch would be showing teal but it's not. For me anyway.

The Sinful Colors - Aqua is what I was expecting this to be like but as you can see its a colour 'match' for Sally Hansen - Emerald City. Is it just me? Have I gone crazy? Or am I the only one who has a different Holiday Splendor than everyone else? Weird... Anyway, THIS Holiday Splendor is gorgeous. Packed full of green glitter in a clear base. This is 2 coats.

Anyhoo, seeing it's my anniversary, I want to share some wedding pics of mine, hope you enjoy :)

See you next time :)

Nude And Navy - Awful Or Not?

Hi Guys :)

Today I'm showing these (not-sure-if-they-are) beauties. Nude and navy... can't decide if I like them or not.

I used Jessie's Girl - Stiletto as undies and tipped with Lizzie Rocks - In The Navy. I used Chit Chat - Purple for the glitter top coat. As you can probably notice, the ring finger looks a bit odd. And it's not just because I used Chit Chat - Pink too. It's because I used a thin layer of Hidden Treasure... and I wish I hadn't. My nail looks like it has been in the bath too long. It looks wrinkled!

As accent fingers go, I hate it.

Ewww, I've just decided, looking at this picture, I really dislike this mani.... the odd man out anyway. the rest is ok.

What do you guys think? Yay or Nay?

Requested Nail Art Pics - Roses and Hearts

Hi guys :)

If you are a fan of my facebook page then you will know that I asked people to make suggestions that they'd like to see. I have had loads but chose the best few to do first.

First up was Alex and Heather asking for roses and hearts.

This was a pretty basic mani but instead of doing plain hearts I decided to make them with single glitters. I placed a full heart on my ring finger and then wanted to do something different, so I put the bottom of a heart on my middle finger, which then looked like a V. I put the 'top' of this heart on the index finger, which ended up looking like an E. It wasn't until I was trying to figure out which way to place the glitters on my pinkie, that I noticed that I could make the word LOVE by placing the glitters in a certain way, so the pinkie ended up an L, or sideways V :)

Below is a blurry pic to show the glitters better as I couldn't for the life of me get a clear pic without glare.

I painted a rose first on my thumb, then thought it looked bare so I painted yellow around it. I didn't like the yellow, so painted it over with baby blue.

Not my greatest mani but not bad for a late night, left-handed mani :)

How not to watermarble...

I'm going through a stage of trying things I haven't tried yet. The galaxy nails were... ok. But these are just plain awful!

Alright, it was my first attempt but still, I hated them. Almost didn't post this.

I shall hang my head while you read on... hehe!

Ok, so they aren't that bad but still cringey for me to look at :s The thumb above shows you the awful clean-up job. This was also late at night so, yeah, that's it, it was late and dark and I was very tired... dum-de-dum.....

This is the eggcup I used. I found it used a lot less polish, ie, less waste. I used blue, purple and white to drip and painted my nails white so the colours would hopefully pop. I'm not bothered about special designs so I just dragged an orange stick around...

Pretty swirls.....

I then taped off each finger with plain old sellotape. Next time I might try Vaseline as the tape slipped or I was just crap at putting it on but I noticed that the half moon area on a lot of my nails were missing their marbling. I also noticed the tape would drag the marbling off as I removed the tape. Again, this could be tiredness.

These few photos are straight after dipping. I dipped 2 fingers at once and found this to work ok. The only thing I didn't like were the bubbles that seemed to appear on my nails. I have since found out this is due to taking the fingers out wrong. Upside down or something... I dunno.

This is them after a rough clean up. And they look ok.... just ok. Clean up works wonders. I hate the bubbles so this mani came off as soon as I had my pictures.

Stupidly I thought that I could trick you into thinking I had covered the whole nail, so I filled in the gaps.... pppfffttt!

Massive Fail!
Apart from the list of errors above, I really liked the look of this pattern. If I ever try this again, I shall try to recreate this one. You can see were I had hit them off the table, knocked them with other nails, sliced them with tape and got swamped with bubbles. Classy. :D

I admire people who can do these perfectly. Lucky *beeps* lol!

Galaxyish....

Everyone has tried them so, so shall I!

blurry bokeh... purdy

These were quite easy to do, I was surprised to find. I just painted on a very dark navy. I then sponged pearly white, blue and purple on, covered it in gold and silver glitter then finished with a few blue star gems. Ooooh!, I nearly forgot, I also put on some white dots and some single holo glitters too :)

The above photos were the afters because before the whole hand was done, I had thought it interesting and 'kewl' to have an accent nail.... no ellie, just no...

It was the disastrous northern lights nail.... Bahahahaha! As you can see it was far prettier in my head than on the nail... I shall never show you anything as rubbish again (touch wood).

So there you have it, galaxy nails a la pixie.

Hope your mascara didn't run/you didn't get in trouble with the boss laughing at Aurora Crapialous :) hehe! Maybe some day I shall do Volcano nails... or Rubbish Green Flame nails! lmao!

til next time my pretties < sorry, watched Wizard of Oz earlier!

Sally Hansen - HD - Laser

WOW! What a stunning colour!

This is Sally Hansen's laser from the HD Collection

Isn't she gorgeous!! It has the most beautiful blue/purple glass fleck thing going on!
Just look at it in the bottle:

The  next few pics show the purple duochrome effect this polish has:

This is one stunning colour and I love it! Do you own this or any of the others? I got this one and many more from cosmeticsfairy. This is a site where you can buy loads of beauty products for bargain prices! I think I got this polish for £1 or something equally ridiculous! Plus, if you spend over £10, shipping is free for UK!!

Til next time

Wave nail art

Hello my little nail polish addicts :D

I'm in a very good mood today, don't know why but don't you just love that happening :)

Anyways, polish.... I have wave nail art for you today. This has been painted over my last mani, my Moonlit Ocean franken. The 'ocean' bit gave me the idea for this art. (Ha! you don't say Ellie!)

The finished look
I get bored easily and a day after putting on some polish, I am already thinking to myself  'What can I add to this mani?' Sometimes, when I add things - glitter, nail art, bits I find lying around - it works, sometimes it doesn't. This time I think it did.

My tools for the Wave look
I don't yet own any nail art brushes but as I'm a painter I have a million brushes lying around so I use one of these. It does the job :) I noticed I didn't get a picture of the teal glitter used on the tips... :/ But a group shot including it can be found in my stash link for the minute, till I get a single shot to post here.

Ok, first I very untidily painted a wave shape on my nails with Pink Tease in white.

Then I roughly filled in half the wave with same.

Then I added some more of the Moonlit Ocean and white with the paint brush to blend them together a bit. Make sure you stipple the edges of the wave to give it a frothy, splashy... you-know-what-I-mean, kind of look. :D

This is what you should end up with.

Give it a top coat to get rid of the stipply brush marks.

I then decided to add some glitter to them to give it that 'moonlit' sparkle. Then added another top coat. My nails should be an inch thick with all these coats!!

glint!

Don't forget to click on the pics to enlarge them.
Hope you like
See ya soon :)
