Requested Nail Art - Xbox Nails

Hi Guys :)

This was requested by my gorgeous hubby Gary on the facebook page :)

He has obviously already seen them and said he loves them, so I am chuffed to bits :)

Here is a list of the undies used:

Thumb, middle and pinkie, La Femme - Ebony,
Index finger is Franken - Graphite,
and Ring finger is, believe it or not, ridge filler! lol!

I don't actually own a 'tipex' white so use that instead because I don't have ridges.

The logo colours are:

Thumb, middle finger logo and some swirls on the ring and index fingers, Vollare - No 96
Swirls on the index and ring finger, Vollare, - No 99
Swirls on index, Sally Hansen - Emerald City
Pinkie, Pink Tease - Red

Above is a slightly blurry but less shiny photo to let you see the ring finger a bit better. I didn't get many good pics of this :( But for those of you who want to know what the doodles mean, read on...

The thumb is the simple Power symbol.
The index finger is the current Xbox woosh logo.
The middle finger has gone a bit retro with the original Xbox X logo.
The ring finger is the Xbox ring/ripple/swirl logo.
And finally the pinkie is the dreaded RROD (Red Ring Of Death)!

Also, I tried something different with this mani. My lovely reader Bug had recently tried the dry marble technique and when I came to do this mani, I was reminded of it. So, The index, middle and pinkie were painted straight on the nail but the thumb and ring finger logos were painted onto a sandwich bag. I peeled them off when they were dry and then placed them onto the nails and covered them with clear polish. I tried to do all the logos this way but they ripped as I peeled them off the bag. But, nevertheless, I'm happy with this mani. :)

Hope you like it

Requested Nail Art - Guinness Nails

Hi guys :D

These nails were suggested by Colette on facebook. They were for Arthurs day (27th) but I'm only getting to post them now.

When I started planning Guinness nails, I knew straight away I was going to do the harp but wasn't sure how... I rummaged around in my box of tricks and found my little yellow paisley gems. I knew they wouldn't be perfect but they were the closest I had to anything harp shaped. I think they turned out just fine. :) I also used single silver holo glitters to spell out Guinness on the pint glass :D

I knew the pint wouldn't look right on the Biletto (baby stiletto!) so I decided to do a gold glequin harp on it. Harder than you'd think...

Don't forget... update on the Biletto on Wednesday!

Requested Nail Art - Pumpkins

Hellloooooo!

:)

Halloween is coming up fast and I love it!!!  Here are the nails suggested by Annie and Steve on Facebook... Pumpkins!

These were fun to do, I loved them! I didn't want to do plain old orange nails with a face so I tried to do something different. I started this arse about face (I love that saying!) by drawing pumpkins with my nail art pen. I then painted them orange and the stalk green. To keep it 'halloweeny' I painted the background purple.

This looked unfinished to me so I added green glitter to the stalks and orange glitter to the pumpkins. I finished with about 3 layers of top coat! No idea why so many! lol!

This has a bit of tip wear as my battery died before I got pics so It was on 2 days before I got these. Hence the raggedy look and dry cuticles :s

Anyhoo, hope you like :)

Requested Nail Art Pics - Argyle

Hi guys :)

This is a suggestion by Sharon On my facebook page. She asked for Argyle. I hope you like it :)

I googled argyle nails and most people had the basic argyle print on most/all nails, so I decided to do something slightly different. I put the basic design on my ring finger and put 1 huge diamond on the rest. I chose these colours as I have a pair of argyle socks in this combo. :D

I didn't want to use striping tape as I like to do completely free~hand stuff but it was late and my first attempt to do a straight line with my art pen ended in disaster... So out came my tape for this part.

I quite liked the look of these nails and will definitely do them again. Thanks Sharon for a great suggestion! :D

P.S. sorry for the blurry pics, I was up late and had bleary eyes so they looked sharp to me at that point! XD

Requested Nail Art Pics - Roses and Hearts

Hi guys :)

If you are a fan of my facebook page then you will know that I asked people to make suggestions that they'd like to see. I have had loads but chose the best few to do first.

First up was Alex and Heather asking for roses and hearts.

This was a pretty basic mani but instead of doing plain hearts I decided to make them with single glitters. I placed a full heart on my ring finger and then wanted to do something different, so I put the bottom of a heart on my middle finger, which then looked like a V. I put the 'top' of this heart on the index finger, which ended up looking like an E. It wasn't until I was trying to figure out which way to place the glitters on my pinkie, that I noticed that I could make the word LOVE by placing the glitters in a certain way, so the pinkie ended up an L, or sideways V :)

Below is a blurry pic to show the glitters better as I couldn't for the life of me get a clear pic without glare.

I painted a rose first on my thumb, then thought it looked bare so I painted yellow around it. I didn't like the yellow, so painted it over with baby blue.

Not my greatest mani but not bad for a late night, left-handed mani :)

How not to watermarble...

I'm going through a stage of trying things I haven't tried yet. The galaxy nails were... ok. But these are just plain awful!

Alright, it was my first attempt but still, I hated them. Almost didn't post this.

I shall hang my head while you read on... hehe!

Ok, so they aren't that bad but still cringey for me to look at :s The thumb above shows you the awful clean-up job. This was also late at night so, yeah, that's it, it was late and dark and I was very tired... dum-de-dum.....

This is the eggcup I used. I found it used a lot less polish, ie, less waste. I used blue, purple and white to drip and painted my nails white so the colours would hopefully pop. I'm not bothered about special designs so I just dragged an orange stick around...

Pretty swirls.....

I then taped off each finger with plain old sellotape. Next time I might try Vaseline as the tape slipped or I was just crap at putting it on but I noticed that the half moon area on a lot of my nails were missing their marbling. I also noticed the tape would drag the marbling off as I removed the tape. Again, this could be tiredness.

These few photos are straight after dipping. I dipped 2 fingers at once and found this to work ok. The only thing I didn't like were the bubbles that seemed to appear on my nails. I have since found out this is due to taking the fingers out wrong. Upside down or something... I dunno.

This is them after a rough clean up. And they look ok.... just ok. Clean up works wonders. I hate the bubbles so this mani came off as soon as I had my pictures.

Stupidly I thought that I could trick you into thinking I had covered the whole nail, so I filled in the gaps.... pppfffttt!

Massive Fail!
Apart from the list of errors above, I really liked the look of this pattern. If I ever try this again, I shall try to recreate this one. You can see were I had hit them off the table, knocked them with other nails, sliced them with tape and got swamped with bubbles. Classy. :D

I admire people who can do these perfectly. Lucky *beeps* lol!

Til my next failure

Galaxyish....

Everyone has tried them so, so shall I!

blurry bokeh... purdy

These were quite easy to do, I was surprised to find. I just painted on a very dark navy. I then sponged pearly white, blue and purple on, covered it in gold and silver glitter then finished with a few blue star gems. Ooooh!, I nearly forgot, I also put on some white dots and some single holo glitters too :)

The above photos were the afters because before the whole hand was done, I had thought it interesting and 'kewl' to have an accent nail.... no ellie, just no...

It was the disastrous northern lights nail.... Bahahahaha! As you can see it was far prettier in my head than on the nail... I shall never show you anything as rubbish again (touch wood).

So there you have it, galaxy nails a la pixie.

Hope your mascara didn't run/you didn't get in trouble with the boss laughing at Aurora Crapialous :) hehe! Maybe some day I shall do Volcano nails... or Rubbish Green Flame nails! lmao!

til next time my pretties < sorry, watched Wizard of Oz earlier!

Fakie Flakie Foils and Wotnots

Ok, remember a while ago in the homemade crackle post, I mentioned something about a *whisper whisper*?

Well, here it is.....

Fakie Flakie Foils and Wotnots. TA-DA!! lol!

For those of you who read all my ramblings (and bless you, if ya do, lol) you will probably have come to realise, I love to experiment. I love to stick random things on my nails to see how they will affect the polish/shade/look etc. Well, today's post is no different.

I found this little beauty when I was clearing out my
bathroom cabinets. It seems to be an iridescent crinkle paper, the kind you'd get in a christmas box.  Instantly, things started running through my head... 'what could I do with this? FLAKIE POLISH!' I ran downstairs to my polish box and completely forgot about cleaning the bathroom! hehe!

I rolled up a small amount and trimmed bits off and poured into a bottle with clear nail polish. Eagerly, I waited......

While this was 'brewing', (or leaving to see if it'd sink) I decided to see what else I could do. So, I cut a small nail shape out of another bit and stuck it with clear polish to my nail. Meh, so I stuck another nail with black polish... OOOOOOOOH! PRETTY!
Seeing how pretty the crinkle paper was over black I decided to see what else I could do...

black polish with crinkle stripe

black polish with random shapes

black polish with crinkle tip, this kinda reminds me of a beetle.
This wasn't the tidiest mani I've ever done but it was fun! I kept it on overnight and when I came to take it off the next day, that's when I discovered something else! (Ooooooh, I love discovering things!) lol! The finger that I had painted black and covered completely in the crinkle paper, was hard getting off. I had to get tweezers to pull up the corners but when I did get it off, the black polish that was left looked just like (kinda) OPIs spotted.

For some reason, I decided to paint over it with a neon yellow.... I have no idea.... I was just looking a sheer polish and this was the one I lifted. Wish I had lifted a nicer colour, this makes it look zombie-ish ha! Anyways, great for halloween!

The whole hand again but I mattified it to see what would happen.

Oh! The flakie polish... well, it worked.... for all of 1 day. After a couple of days I came back to it and it had lost all its rainbow colours. It was basically clear crinkle in clear polish... :( Here are 2 shots of it before it faded. The nail wheel still has it's colour til this day.

held over white background

I can still cut up bits of crinkle paper and put it on like glequins, it keeps its colour that way but not in a franken, ah well. And I will definitely be trying the full black polish and crinkle mani again... but tidier!

More experimenting another time :)

Hope this inspired you,

Butterflyawaywithme!

I know people have done this mani loads but I don't have the stamps (or any stamps for that matter) so I decided to try and do it free~hand.

In this mani I used, a base coat of Beauty UK - Turquoise Shimmer (which is a gorgeous creme) with a coat of Sally Hansen's HD in Spectrum over this. I then used my black nail art pen to draw the wing shapes and a butterfly on the accent nails (I painted a blue wing on top of the white (ridge filler!!) to show the wing on the accent nails). I finished of with white nail pen dots on all nails. I didn't wait long enough to finish off with a topcoat as the white was dragged into the black in some nails. Ah well... lol.

I didn't want to do wing overkill so I gave each hand a butterfly accent nail.

Blurred to show the flecks in Spectrum
Hope you liked
Til next time

Autumn nails!

PICTURE HEAVY POST!

I know it's a few weeks away yet but I thought I'd show my frankenfall polish simply called Autumn :D

Close up of bottle
The large slice glitter in this is a holographic brown which flashes all colours.
Getting photographs of this that showed all the colours, that didn't glare or blur was quite difficult!
On one hand, I layered the whole nail with Autumn.

Layered on top of brown

On it's own
This was made by mixing alot of orange glitter in a clear base with a very small amount (2/3 drops) of the brown i wore underneath this. I also bought some gorgeous loose glitter from ebay and mixed loads in. I'm not sure why it looks so dark in the bottle because you can see that it's super sheer on the nail wheel sample above!
The gorgeous brown and glitter used
On the other hand I placed loose glitter on top of wet top coat to make them stick, then covered in another topcoat. This was also difficult to photograph.

The bottom few pics showed the colour flashes best but irl this is stunning. If you look at the bottom couple of pics you can see that the glitter is different colours in each shot with greens and oranges and reds and blues. This is the kind of polish/glitter mani that needs a video! maybe next time :) If anyone is interested, I will post the link to the glitter on ebay.

til next time
